Good Cooking Skills -A Must for Every Woman

While I have nothing against women connecting with their inner being and discovering their potentials and getting all liberated I must encourage women to strike a balance if they wish to have a happy & healthy home. In other words, you cannot be too sophisticated for domestic chores. I’ve heard young ladies say stuff like “I just don’t like kitchen stuff, I know how to cook but it’s not my hobby.” Well, cooking and home keeping skills is not negotiable for you especially if you are an African woman. It may shock you to know that a new and potent reason has emerged to add to reasons why some men cheat on their spouse. Strange as it sounds our men are tired of eating out. They want homemade meals and seriously you will save a whole lot more if you do your cooking yourself. Not to mention keep your family healthy and happy. I do hope the scenarios below would teach you a thing or two.

Friends Over:
One way a man brags about his wife to his friend is by inviting them over for a meal. Imagine a man who has lived on noodles, Beverages and all those other junk bachelors feed on for so long, decides he is tired of that kind of life style finds himself a wife, the love of his life, who he hopes will take good care of him and his home. This woman comes in, and makes it obvious how she is not so into cooking and kitchen stuff seriously, how long do you think he is going to keep up with that? Do you seriously expect him to keep eating noodles or mama-put after he’s married? And what about your kids, his relatives who comes visiting, Other family members, in-laws not to mention yourself? Will the entire family continue to eat out all and for how long? Let’s say he invites his friends over to show them how lucky he is to have found you and you embarrass him because you don’t do kitchen stuff, seriously, do not blame it on any devil from your village when you break your home yourself.

In – laws /family gathering
If you are a Nigerian, you already know that when you say yes to a man’s proposal, you automatically say yes to his entire family and may be village too. There will be family gatherings, like the Christmas reunions in our respective villages. Have you considered the fact that you may have to do all the cooking as well as catering for everyone? How do you plan to handle that scene if you don’t know how to?
My point is this; every woman should strive to keep her family happy and healthy while pursuing her personal goals or careers. If you continue to hang on to the fairy-tale of how the man should cook too…don’t get me wrong, a man should help out with running the home too, but whether you agree with me or not, the kitchen is still your territory, home keeping is your domain! Do not give your hubby the reason to eat out if it was a habit in him before you arrived, you can help him change. Whether he says it to your hearing or not, he will always brag about you. He’ll always be proud of you.
